"Template Based" is a phrase I use in
reference to an option which is available for some product types,
mainly those that are associated with carvings. This option is
intended to inspire creativity. It is geared toward people who really want to come up with a project idea of
their
own, but find that creating a design from scratch proves to be a bit
more challenging than originally expected. If you feel this applies
to your situation or even if you don't, please continue reading,
either way I truely believe you will find the information on this
page to be helpful. For some, maybe this whole process just simply
is not your cup of tea, I understand. Don't forget though, you
always have the option to purchase items from my show booth, Wood,
Glass & More, at any of the
Upcoming Events.

Ok, now, let us
discuss some specifics about this option. When I use the word "template" I am
using this word figuratively, because I do not really have any
templates per say. What I do have is an inventory of various design
layouts and clipart that are ready to be used for projects. They are
available for you to browse through in the form of CAD preview
images and digital photographs. The digital photographs show you
examples of some previous works I have completed. The CAD preview
images show examples of either a full design layout or an individual
piece of clipart. Below are two CAD preview image examples. The
first one is of a full design layout and the other is of a single
piece of clipart. I have also included a photograph of the completed
project that was made using this design layout and clipart. To view

What you see above is an example of the design I used to create my logo and the sign that hangs at my show booth. Think of the two CAD preview images as what I refer to as the "template". You will notice that I have made use of the acorn clipart in the full design layout. In fact, this layout is composed of four separate individual pieces of clipart, along with some text. It was just a matter of arranging the individual clipart to resemble the idea I sketched out on paper before hand. This is an example of how the "template based" option can be used to create a project. I have a variety of CAD designs that I created and I am always creating new designs every chance I get. It's an on going process because some designs are complex and very time consuming. I also have quite a bit of clipart that came with the CAD software. At the time I am writing this, current inventory on hand for clipart is over 150 individual pieces. Also there is a ton of commercial clipart available from Design and Make. I do purchase clipart from them on occasion.
As mentioned above, there is commercial
clipart available from Design and Make. They offer thousands of
designs and like me they are creating and adding to their inventory
all the time. They offer individual pieces of clipart and some
package or bundle type deals as well. They have so much to look at,
it would be foolish for me to attempt loading all those images onto
my website, not to mention there are copyright, licensing and
intellectual property issues that legally restrict me from doing so
in the first place. It is much more efficient for you to visit their
website and browse through what they have available. If you find
something they have and wish to include it in your project, let me
know and I can make the necessary arrangements to download it
directly into my CAD software. Just make sure you write down their
model number and description, this will help to find it again
easily. Here is the URL for the Design and Make Store web page,
https://store.designandmake.com this is not a
hyperlink, you will need to type this URL into your browsers address
bar, sorry for any inconvenience.
Once you have reached the store page you will see a few
options. They have a Project Shop and a Individual Model Shop, I
recommend browsing through both. The Project Shop has small groups
of clipart offered in a package format. You might get some good
design layout ideas in this section. If you find something that you
wish to use for your project be sure to write the model number and
description on paper so you have it for future reference, this will
make it very easy to find again later on. Do not worry about placing
any orders with them, I will make all the necessary arrangements. If
you have any questions or comments about this please feel free to
send me a message using the
Contact link.
Template Based is all about just browsing around and looking at the individual clipart and full design layouts, then hopefully you become inspired with an idea for your own project. Just let your imagination run wild. It can actually be quite fun. You can mix and match the designs, arrange them how you want, then add some text if desired. Before ya know it, you just created your own design layout. Using this method is a great option for those who do not have an idea already percolating in their head. You never know, an original idea of your own could magically reveal itself while you are browsing away. To view some of my clipart and design layouts click on the Sample Images link.
