Quite frequently one of the first
questions I am asked about any project is related to the price. I
understand the cost of a project is very important to you, and it
should be. It is of equal importance to me as well. That is why I
have dedicated an entire page to cover this topic. I want you to
know that I always do everything possible to keep project expenses
to their minimum without sacrifice to you, the project or myself.
Having a discussion on this topic now may influence your decision
process as well as aid you in choosing products or options related
to your project.
Most, if not all the information on this page does not pertain to items displayed on the
Premade Projects
page or at my Show Booth, they will have a set price.
All commission
projects are classified as custom work and will not have a set price
associated with them. There are several important factors that need
to be taken into consideration which contribute to accurately
calculating the end price of any given project. Even if there seems
to be many simularities visually, no two projects are ever quite the
same, because some of the factors that effect the end
price are variable. The most common variables that effect end price
are, CAD design time, the type of materials, hardware, photo editing
time, physical size of the project and the quantity of items you
need produced. Therefore I am unable to provide any up front pricing
for a
given custom work project until after a few preliminary steps have
taken place.
Whether you are an individual or a business and make the decision to
commission a project, more often than not, a budget comes into play.
I understand and can appreciate that all too well. In the spirit of
budgets, there are a few product types that can be offered with a
three tier pricing level, which is Economy, Basic or Deluxe.
It is possible to calculate an estimated cost of custom work
after a few preliminary steps have taken place. The first and most
important of them would be, I need a CAD design that has been
rendered in my software, this step would also include any necessary
photo editing. Second, I need to make a list of materials that will
be required for the production of your project. Third, I will need
to source any materials that I do not already have in inventory,
this step is necessary so I can verify availability and current
market price from suppliers. After these three steps have been
completed I will be able to provide you with a project estimate.
Prior to any of the previously mentioned preliminary steps,
there will be an initial consultation discussion about your project.
This discussion has no strings attached, no cost associated with it
and does not involve making any commitments on your behalf. The only
thing required is, you will need to provide me with your rough
sketch, any digital files, photographs or any combination thereof in
respect to your original design concept before the meeting can be
scheduled. These things were discussed on the
Getting
Started page. If you have not read the
Getting Started page, I strongly
recommend doing so now.
All commission projects will require a non-refundable deposit before any of the preliminary steps take place. There is no upfront set dollar amount for a deposit. The actual deposit amount required will be based off of your original design concept and the content of our initial discussion about your project. Once the deposit amount has been calculated, I will contact you for a follow up discussion. After that you should have all the information needed to make a decision on how you would like to proceed. At this point, if necessary, you may need some time to mull things over before making a decision, this is understandable and I encourage it.
After reading through the above information you may have noticed that there is a specific sequence of events that need to take place before your concept is brought to life. Let me break it down, to simplify it. The list below is in proper order.
